We have a special treat for you this February!
Join the LASC with local artist Kim Dixon. Kim Dixon will guide the class through various ways to create collage art. Using magazines, paper, newspaper, tissue paper and more families will learn a skilled talent from an amazing artist. This will surely be something you can take home to your families and create together.

Help the dream stay alive by living your astronaut dreams and see the planets in our beautiful planetarium!

Adult Class - Beginner Basketry : Learn to Weave an Egg Basket
Ages: 18+
Join the LASC with well-known basket weaver Janet Northern. This class will teach you the basics of weaving a handmade egg basket. Learn various techniques and basketry tricks as well as getting to take home your very own egg basket made from reed material.
This class will meet in person at the Living Arts & Science Center. A sack lunch is recommended.

Family Class - Ceramic Music Shakers
Let’s make some noise! Join us for a special class where families will learn to make a music shaker out of clay. Using Hand-building techniques families will mold and carve their very own music shakers. After fired pieces will be filled with shaking materials sealed up and returned to the families for some musical fun.
This class will meet in person at the Living Arts & Science Center.

Family Class - Intro to Henna
Join us for a comprehensive introduction to henna body art and learn to make beautiful designs at home! We will cover how to roll henna cones and mix paste before moving on to application techniques, classic designs/patterns, and composing your own creations.

Day of the Dead Celebration
Join us for The Day of the Dead Celebration on November 1st from 5 PM to 8 PM! Experience the artistry of Michael Andrews' photography and witness the creations from Ofrenda builders Janice Aragon, Nadzi Ahey, Diane Kahlo, and Michelle Newby Armstrong. Local Artist in Residence August Castillo will be working in his studio, offering a glimpse into his creative process. Enjoy hands-on activities and explore local student work from Cassidy and Dixie Elementary displayed throughout the building. It promises to be an engaging and enriching evening.

What is SINGO?
Singo is a musical spin on Bingo. Instead of listening for a number, players listen to music.
Each player can purchase a $1 Singo card printed with the titles of popular songs. While Singo randomly plays song clips of "the good parts", players can sing along and mark matching song titles on their cards.
The first player to mark five songs in a row and to shout "Singo" wins the round!
Zombie Crawl, Hosted by RadioLex
On Sunday, October 20, from 1pm-6pm, hordes of zombies will descend on Lexington, KY.
The RADIOLEX Zombie Crawl is a team-based virtual scavenger hunt played throughout the community on players’ mobile devices. The scavenger hunt features a variety of zombie-related ‘missions.’ Players will collect brains (points) and compete for prizes.
The fun winds up on Main Street just in time for the Thriller Parade!

The Museum of Lost Things Exhibit Opening Reception
What differentiates trash from treasure? What began as a casual neighborhood waterway clean-up turned into an usual collection and series of questions: What are these objects? What are their origins? What can be learned from them? The Museum of Lost Things categorizes and describes the personal collection of artist and educator Mia Cinelli, discovered between 2020–2024. The exhibition runs May 24–September 2, 2024. Please join us for an opening reception and brief artist talk on Friday, May 31.

Get ready to throw some dough!
The LASC is excited to present our first combo cooking and ceramics class.
Students will spend the morning learning cooking basics, food presentation, how to cook and prepare their own soups salads, and more.
After lunch students will head into the clay studio and create their own dishware to use with their newly acquired cooking skills. Students will learn ceramic hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques.
This class will meet in person at the Living Arts & Science Center. Parents should provide two peanut free snacks, one lunch, and a personal water bottle for their child.
