Day of the Dead Celebration

Join us for The Day of the Dead Celebration on November 1st from 5 PM to 8 PM! Experience the artistry of Michael Andrews' photography and witness the creations from Ofrenda builders Janice Aragon, Nadzi Ahey, Diane Kahlo, and Michelle Newby Armstrong. Local Artist in Residence August Castillo will be working in his studio, offering a glimpse into his creative process. Enjoy hands-on activities and explore local student work from Cassidy and Dixie Elementary displayed throughout the building. It promises to be an engaging and enriching evening.

Zombie Crawl, Hosted by RadioLex

On Sunday, October 20, from 1pm-6pm, hordes of zombies will descend on Lexington, KY.

The RADIOLEX Zombie Crawl is a team-based virtual scavenger hunt played throughout the community on players’ mobile devices. The scavenger hunt features a variety of zombie-related ‘missions.’ Players will collect brains (points) and compete for prizes.

The fun winds up on Main Street just in time for the Thriller Parade!

Join us for a fun day at The Living Arts & Science Center! The LASC invites Homeschoolers & their families to participate in a day of Discovery!

Students will spend the week learning how to center, open, pull and trim on the potter’s wheel as well as use different texture tools and decorating techniques. The Museum of Lost Things Exhibit Opening Reception

What differentiates trash from treasure? What began as a casual neighborhood waterway clean-up turned into an usual collection and series of questions: What are these objects? What are their origins? What can be learned from them? The Museum of Lost Things categorizes and describes the personal collection of artist and educator Mia Cinelli, discovered between 2020–2024. The exhibition runs May 24–September 2, 2024. Please join us for an opening reception and brief artist talk on Friday, May 31.

Get ready to throw some dough!

The LASC is excited to present our first combo cooking and ceramics class.

Students will spend the morning learning cooking basics, food presentation, how to cook and prepare their own soups salads, and more.

After lunch students will head into the clay studio and create their own dishware to use with their newly acquired cooking skills. Students will learn ceramic hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. 

This class will meet in person at the Living Arts & Science Center. Parents should provide two peanut free snacks, one lunch, and a personal water bottle for their child.
