Explore the LASC

  • The Living Arts & Science Center features four galleries and multiple exhibitions annually. Exhibits showcase work by children established national and regional artists and innovative emerging artists. The gallery's art is a favorite stop for LexArts Gallery Hop. All exhibitions are free and open to the public.

  • Come explore the natural world through the LASC’s Living Connections exhibit! Living Connections is a hands-on, educational opportunity for people of all ages to learn about the ways we, as humans, connect with our natural world. From an indoor treehouse to interactive sections about weather, energy, biological evolution, and animal engineering, this exhibit is all about discovering the many ways that nature and humans are interconnected, interact, and experience the biosphere, together.

  • Observe the beauty of the night sky in Lexington’s only public planetarium. Daily shows & can be part of field trip opportunities for educators.

  • The Moosnick Makerspace inspires creativity, connects the community, and facilitates collaboration through multi-disciplinary and ever-evolving activities for families and children 6 and under.

  • Our Animal Ambassadors are animals who live at the LASC and help us educate the public about the incredible diversity of nature in Kentucky and worldwide. These animals represent their species and support our mission of lifelong learning during educational tours and visits to local schools. Our Ambassadors help us connect the public with rare animal species to learn the wonderful things they do for us, the issues they face, and how we can support the Earth's ecosystems. These animals are often displayed or handled during school programs and educational talks. This allows children and adults hands-on experience to help better understand why these animals are so important in environmental conservation.

  • The Innovation Lab is a space including all things of the natural world. Our touch-and-feel table gives you a hands-on learning experience with the native animals of Kentucky. We have a constantly growing collection of natural specimens and microscopes. This room celebrates our planet through interaction and literature.

  • The Creation Space is a place to be inspired and inspired in all things creative! This room features a craft cart full of supplies waiting to be made into something extraordinary. We host a craft that goes along with the Book of The Month each month. This space is for all ages. When you visit, make sure you visit the Creation Space.
