Art by Nature: Monarch Waystations

Art, but make it monarchs! Art by Nature: Monarch Waystations opens Friday, Oct. 18, at the Living Arts and Science Center, 362 N. Martin Luther King Boulevard.

This year’s show features artwork inspired by monarch waystations throughout Fayette County. Waystations contain plants that provide food and habitat for monarch butterflies as they migrate. Much of the food we eat depends on monarch butterflies and other pollinators. Dedicating green spaces to plants that support pollinators leads to a healthier planet for everyone.

The opening reception will be held Friday, Oct. 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibit features 131 pieces from 97 local artists. Digital art, photography, painting and mixed media are all among the mediums included. Many pieces are available for purchase.

If you are inspired to plant your own monarch waystation, the City’s Plant by Numbers Plans make it easy to design your own. The plans were created by EARTHeim Landscape Design and are available for free at lexingtonky.gov/plantbynumbers.

Admission to the gallery is free for Art by Nature events. Additional events include:
